:)

A lady called Nic called me from The Gift of Knowledge and we had a chat about things. She had her mastectomy and reconstruction done about 5 months ago and I have decided that instead of having implants, I will have a DIEP Flap reconstruction. That is where they take fat and tissue from your tummy and make new breasts out of it. I like this idea because 1. You get a tummy tuck - 2. Your breasts are more natural and grow and shrink with your body - 3. There are no foreign bodies involved (I hate the idea of having implants) and 4. You dont have to keep having surgery like you do with implants.

Only microsurgeons can perform this surgery so when I go talk to mums breast surgeon I will ask if he has any recommendations.

After waiting the longest hour ever in the waiting room, I went through to the little room that Genetics work out of at Greenlane Hospital and the lady sat me down. She asked how my day was, I said "All I really want to know is do I have the brca2 gene" The gene lady said yes.

Mum started crying, I felt numb. I still feel numb. Although its a fantastic thing that I have found out that I have this gene, It still sucks that I have up to an 85% chance of getting breast cancer and 40% chance of getting ovarian cancer.

Genetics have referred me onto Gyneoncology and the breast clinic. I see the same doctor that mum saw for her breast cancer. Fun.

I would like to have a preventative mastectomy asap. We may have more children so the ovarys can wait, but I would like my boobies off asap thanks :) And give me some noice perky ones in their place :D
